Dog Age Calculator

Precisely determine your canine's biological age relative to human development.

The Science of Canine Aging

While the "1 year = 7 years" rule has been a rule of thumb for decades, veterinary science has evolved. Research suggests that dogs age much more rapidly during their first two years of life.

Size Matters

Interestingly, smaller dogs generally have longer lifespans than larger breeds. A Great Dane may be considered "senior" at 6 years old, whereas a Chihuahua might not reach that milestone until 10 or 11.

  • Small Breeds: Often live 14-16 years.
  • Medium Breeds: Average 10-13 years.
  • Large Breeds: Average 8-12 years.
  • Giant Breeds: May live only 7-10 years.
