Diverse Avian Lifespans

Birds exhibit some of the most diverse aging patterns in the animal kingdom. While a small budgie might live 10-15 years, a large parrot can live well over 60, sometimes even 80 years.

Species Specifics

Larger birds generally age much slower than smaller ones. Their high metabolic rate would suggest a shorter life, yet they have biological mechanisms to resist aging that scientists are still studying.
